► Electric Suburban Trains

These are those funny green trains that run on electricity and cascade through the Russian countryside. They run from major cities out to the suburbs. They are pretty rickety, have funny wooden seats and aren't the most comfortable form of transport. And, watch out, on the weekends and whenever the weather is nice they get packed. You won't find a seat. Russians like to go to their dachas (summer houses) and most of these trains are the best way for them to get there. So, you'll see people with all sorts of equipment and building materials, used furniture, etc. traveling on these trains. Tickets are dirt cheap and can be purchased at all the train stations.
