If you decide to truly experience Russia in its entirety, then trains are the most convenient and fascinating way for you to travel. First of all, trains are safer than planes. Second, they provide for an interesting experience. Russia's landscape is very beautiful, starting from the charming northern landscape in Karelia to Moscow and Moscow's regions, which include cities like Yaroslavl, Kostroma and Rostov with their adorable white churches and lovely lakes and rivers. Traveling through Russia you will also see mountains and the sea, endless fields and interesting architecture that continuously change as you pass one region and enter another.
Russian trains are quite comfortable even if your journey lasts a few days or a week. Most of the trains have wagons that are painted green, but sometimes they are red, blue or even silver, especially on the trains that run between Moscow and St. Petersburg. These trains are also usually high class expensive ones that serve clients who don't mind spending a little bit more money.
The entire Russian railway is owned by one major the government monopoly called RZhD (Russian Rail Ways). RZhD is a very strong organization that has its own colleges, hospitals and many other structures. At the same time, this company operates quite professionally.
