There are many ways to travel into Russia from Europe. You can arrive from Germany, Finland, and from Poland. You can also enter Russia through Latvia, Estonia, or Kiev. Please note: a transit visa is required for trains that stop or go through Belarus. If you want to save time you can choose a direct train. Notes: High-speed train Moscow-Kiev started regular traffic in August 2005. The average speed of the train is about 140 kilometers per hour, and covers the distance between the 2 capitals in only 9 hours. The service is run jointly by the Russian and Ukrainian railways for maximum passenger comfort.
